How did you come into this position?
About 7 years ago the contract I worked on at White Sands was cancelled and I wanted to work in town. My wife was pregnant with our second child and I wanted to be in town and be able to help out with our new baby.
What was your motivation for a career in Healthcare?
My motivation was to try something different completely out of what I was used to. When I started I had no prior knowledge of Healthcare.
What is a typical day like for you?
My day usual starts at 8 and I round at our Medical Oncology Department our Radiation Oncology Department and the MIS Department. I resolve any user issues and work on projects assigned to me from my Directors.
How would you describe your role’s responsibilities?
My primary responsibility is to ensure that all IT systems are operations for our Cancer Center both Medical and Radiation Oncology. I am also the primary point of contact for our EMR for the Cancer Program. I also serve as a back up to the MIS department for any issues related to the network or servers.
In what areas do you help patients?
I feel my role in helping patients is to ensure that all staff have the systems and knowledge to work in and on the systems that we use to treat, heal and take care of our patients.
What are some of your interests outside of work?
My main interests outside of work include NMSU Sporting events, and spending time with my wife and kids.
What is your favorite part about working for Memorial Medical Center?
My favorite part of working for Memorial Medical Center is that all the employees work as a team and work well together to make sure we provide the best care for our patients.
