Memorial Medical Center Celebrates 10th Anniversary Of Ronald McDonald Family Room

LAS CRUCES, NM (August 26, 2026) – Memorial Medical Center (MMC), the Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary and Ronald McDonald House Charities of El Paso came together to celebrate a momentous milestone on August 26th as the partners marked the 10th anniversary of the hospital’s Ronald McDonald Family Room – the only such room in Southern New Mexico.

Ronald McDonald Family Room programs provide accommodations within the hospital setting, giving families the support they need to recharge, connect with others, and focus on what matters most: the health of their child.

This beautiful room at MMC supported by the hospital’s Auxiliary offers loved ones many of the comforts of home to help alleviate the anxiety of being in a hospital environment, all while being only steps away from their child. The room features a coffee maker, microwave, TV, computer stations, comfortable seating, free beverages and snacks, and activities. From cozy seating and snacks to supportive volunteers, this special space brings a sense of home and hope during challenging times.

“We are really proud that we’ve been able to come together to create this space where families can come to find some comfort, some support and maybe a little bit of peace,” said Laura Pierce, People Services Director at MMC and Board Member for Ronald McDonald House Charities of El Paso. “This room is truly an oasis for families in our community.”

The importance and availability of this space is amplified by the fact that MMC offers the highest level of pediatric care in Southwestern New Mexico, offering the region’s only Pediatric Unit and only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) – in addition to a dedicated specialty care Transport Team.
