Memorial Medical Center Announces Nearly $10 Million Investment in Facility Improvements
October 26, 2026
LAS CRUCES, N.M. | October 26, 2026 - Memorial Medical Center (MMC) today announced nearly $10 million in facility improvements designed to create a safer, more welcoming and more modern environment for patients, families, employees and the broader community.
The multi-phase investment includes three major projects:
- A $5 million exterior refresh and new signage project, including updated exterior finishes and coordinated signage and wayfinding.
- A $3+ million parking lot restoration, including milling, resurfacing and restriping of parking stalls, accessible spaces, fire lanes, arrows and walkways.
- A $1+ million Emergency Department refresh, including improvements to patient-facing areas, finishes, lighting, casework and the nursing station to support patient flow and experience and enhance appearance and cleanliness.
Construction is planned to begin in early November 2026 and advance in phases through 2027, with additional interior improvements and investments to follow.
“This investment represents something much bigger than improvements to our hospital campus and building. It reflects our commitment to listening to the people we serve and continuing to strengthen Memorial Medical Center for the future,” said Caryn Iverson, RN, MSN, MBA, interim chief executive officer of Memorial Medical Center. “Our employees, physicians and community partners care deeply about this hospital, and we do, too. We are proud to make this investment in our patients, our people and the future of healthcare in Las Cruces and Doña Ana County.”
The new projects build on nearly $13 million Memorial Medical Center has invested this year in facilities, equipment and technology. Recently completed projects include renovations to the sixth-floor inpatient unit, expansion and new equipment in the cardiac catheterization lab, and upgrades to the campus-wide access control system and security systems.
The hospital is working with City, County, state and community leaders as plans move forward and will provide ongoing updates throughout construction. Construction will be phased to maintain access to care, with patient and visitor notices, bilingual signage, web updates and wayfinding information.
“This $10 million investment in Memorial Medical Center is welcome news for southern New Mexico. Modernizing our healthcare facilities strengthens the quality of care available to our families and demonstrates a commitment to the long-term health of our community.”
- New Mexico State Sen. Crystal Brantley
