'In Every Dish, There's A Story:' MMC Welcomes New Executive Chef Anthony Tovar

Memorial Medical Center is very excited to introduce our new Executive Chef, Anthony Tovar!
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Anthony Tovar is an accomplished chef and graduate of the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, Calif. His culinary journey took him to Tuscany, Italy, where he completed an externship that deepened his appreciation for authentic, high-quality cuisine. Early in his career, Anthony worked with Wolfgang Puck’s catering team, contributing to elite high-profile events such as the Grammy Awards and the Oscars.
Anthony transitioned into healthcare and senior living, where he found joy in bringing a fun, bistro-style vibe to his kitchens — and big smiles to the faces of residents, patients and staff. He recently relocated from San Francisco, where he managed two Kaiser Permanente facilities and a private school nutrition program.
With a deep passion for creativity in the kitchen, Anthony is constantly exploring new flavors and techniques, striving to bring both comfort and innovation to the table. As the Executive Chef at Memorial Medical Center, his goal is to elevate the culinary experience for patients, staff, and visitors alike — focusing on fresh, global meals that not only nourish but inspire.
He believes food is more than just sustenance — it’s an experience, and he’s excited to bring that philosophy to the MMC community.
