Memorial Medical Center is launching the Memorial Art Initiative this February during the Love of Art Month. Memorial Medical Center Chief Executive Officer John Harris started this art initiative in late 2019 to help enhance the art collection at Memorial. “In all honesty, the art collection here at Memorial has been outdated for some time.” John Harris states. Studies have shown that placing art in hospitals have helped improved patient wellbeing, decrease hospital stays, reduce anxiety, depression and pain. With such a large art community here in Las Cruces it only made sense to work together on this project.
