Memorial has recently started providing Clinical Pediatric Pharmacy services. This is a new service for our Neonatal ICU, Pediatric ICU, and pediatric patients. The Memorial Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist collaborates with pediatricians, neonatologists, and nurses, participating in patient rounds to monitor high-risk medications and assist in managing medication issues with the care team.

Memorial’s Emergency Department was recently surveyed by a national trauma inspector. We are very pleased to report that the surveyor recommended us for a Level 4 Trauma designation in our ER. His report is currently with the New Mexico Secretary of Health and she will send the official letter of designation. Congratulations to Memorial’s ER Team, particularly the Team Lead, Rachel Miller, RN, all of whom worked diligently to achieve our status as a Trauma Center.

On Monday, July 8th, Memorial opened a Family HealthCare center at 2611 North Main Street. Memorial Family HealthCare-North Main is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM. Primary care for children and adults is available by appointment at 575-449-4424 or walk-in patients are always welcome.

HealthyHub® Virtual Visit offers patients the opportunity to receive online care from a health care provider 24 hours a day, seven days a week – from the convenience of their smartphone, tablet or computer. We are continually seeking ways to enhance our community’s access to high quality care, and HealthyHub offers patients the opportunity to receive a diagnosis and treatment from the convenience of their home, office or wherever they may be.

Memorial’s chief bariatric surgeon, Dr. Frank Felts, has been nationally recognized for pioneering ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) in this region. ERAS includes limited or no use of opioids for pain management. At a recent Quality Leadership Summit in Nashville with 90 LifePoint hospitals, Memorial’s ERAS presentation was chosen for the Top award.

Memorial will begin offering Therapeutic Apheresis for the treatment of conditions such as Guillen-Barre syndrome, Sickle Cell disease, Myasthenia gravis, Pulmonary renal syndrome, certain cases of systemic Lupus, and a variety of other diagnoses.

We announced last month that Memorial has earned a Grade A from The Leapfrog Group™ for patient safety during our latest Spring survey. Leapfrog™ is an independent hospital rating system founded by corporate executives who wanted to create a simple system for the general public to determine the quality and safety when selecting a hospital.

The Memorial Laboratory has opened a new branch in the Memorial HeatlhPlex at 2735 E. Northrise Drive. On May 28th, we began seeing patients to do blood draws at the Memorial Lab-HealthPlex Branch every Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.
