Memorial Minute - June 11, 2019

June 11, 2019

Memorial will begin offering Therapeutic Apheresis for the treatment of conditions such as Guillen-Barre syndrome, Sickle Cell disease, Myasthenia gravis, Pulmonary renal syndrome, certain cases of systemic Lupus, and a variety of other diagnoses. Therapeutic Apheresis is a medical procedure that involves removing whole blood from a patient and separating the blood into individual components so that one disease-provoking component can be removed. The remaining blood components then are re-introduced back into the bloodstream of the patient. Memorial has partnered with Fresenius Medical Care, a nationwide leader in Apheresis, in providing this treatment to help improve outcomes for our patients and reduce the length of their hospital stay. Therapeutic Apheresis will be available to patients at Memorial beginning June 28th.
