On July 13th, the Senate introduced the revised Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA) Health Bill. The overall effect of the proposed healthcare reform stands to have lasting detrimental effects on New Mexico and our region. Although some improvements over the previous House Bill have been presented, there is virtually no change to the massive cuts to Medicaid being proposed. We remain very concerned about the lack of access to adequate insurance and healthcare by the underserved population in rural markets such as ours. We are also concerned about the economic consequences this Bill will have on employers and healthcare providers in our state and our region. We encourage everyone to contact your legislators and ask for a revised Health Bill that protects coverage for those who currently have insurance, and provides for the most vulnerable among us.
