May 17, 2022
LAS CRUCES, NM (MAY 16, 2022) – Memorial Medical Center is proud to announce that Beth Cole has been recognized as the facility’s 2022 Mercy Award winner. Beth is truly a positive light of energy in our hospital and in our community who consistently goes out of her way to uplift others.
The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded. The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
“Beth exemplifies the culture at Memorial Medical Center with her positive attitude and exuberant spirit,” said John Harris, Memorial CEO. “She has a true empathy for her fellow New Mexicans, dedicating her professional and personal life to making Las Cruces a healthier and more compassionate place to call home.”
Since joining the Memorial team in 2018, Beth has held positions within Nursing Support, Case Management, Patient Experience and the Medical Staff Office.
“If you were to ask any staff member that works at Memorial Medical Center, he or she would state that Beth is a centerpiece in our facility to help make our community healthier,” said Dr. Dolores Gomez, Chief Medical Officer at Memorial. “She brings such an energy in her career that it inspires the rest of us to want to be a part of the Memorial family.”
When not at Memorial, she dedicates many hours working as an adjunct instructor for New Mexico State University and Doña Ana Community College, teaching students Human Communication and Public Speaking. Her compassion extends four-legged creatures as well. Since 2013, Beth has been a volunteer for Action Programs for Animals in Las Cruces, fostering pets looking for a forever home.
Each facility winner, including Beth, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2022 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which Beth and all facility winners are invited to attend.
