MMC Now Offering Minimally Invasive Solution For Those Suffering From Chronic Tendon Pain
August 13, 2025
LAS CRUCES, NM (August 13, 2025) – A new, minimally invasive solution for chronic tendon pain is now available at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. Sports Medicine Physician Matthew Endrizzi, MD, is the only provider offering the cutting-edge TenJet treatment in Southern New Mexico and the greater El Paso region, offering relief for those looking to get back to an active lifestyle.
TenJet, a form of percutaneous hydrotenotomy, is a minimally invasive treatment for tendinosis, a condition caused by degenerated tendon tissue. Tendinosis is a common condition that weakens a person’s tendons, causing pain, stiffness, tenderness and loss of range of motion, which worsens over time.
Completed under local anesthetic, most patients are back to regular activity within six to eight weeks, significantly faster than traditional surgery. Frequent areas of tendon pain that can be addressed with the outpatient procedure include rotator cuff or shoulder pain, golfer’s or tennis elbow (medial or lateral epicondylitis), patellar tendon (knee), hip bursitis, Achilles tendon, and plantar fasciitis.
“Under ultrasound guidance, a small pressurized, high-velocity jet of water is used to selectively remove unhealthy tendon tissue while keeping healthy tissues intact,” Dr. Endrizzi explains. “We clear out the damaged area and remove the damaged tissue, and that gives the tendon space to heal naturally. This simple process gets to the source of your tendon pain and repairs it, helping your body heal quicker and more efficiently.”
Tendinitis can occur from a single injury, but in many cases, it happens when a patient repeats the same motion over and over. In sports medicine, “overuse injuries” account for 30 to 50 percent of all injuries. It makes the most common movements like walking, cooking or swinging a golf club uncomfortable.
TenJet is primarily for patients with chronic tendon pain rather than acute tendinitis. The procedure is covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare and private insurance.
Benefits of the procedure also include:
- A quick recovery time
- A minimally invasive outpatient procedure
- No general anesthesia is required
- Rapid return to activity and function
- High procedure success rate
- Less pain and scarring than traditional surgical procedures
