Vaccine Heroes: Members of Memorial's Pharmacy Team

August 06, 2021

This week’s #VaccineHeroes are Danyale Avallone, Nicole Chacon, Sonya Garcia and Shannon Brown. Avallone, Chacon and Garcia are Pharmacy Technicians who were instrumental in the monumental vaccination effort of delivering 23,640 doses at Memorial Medical Center.

Each morning a vaccination clinic took place, the technicians would arrive between 4:30-5 a.m. and begin reconstituting and drawing up the vaccines. It would take about 2-3 hours to draw all the vaccines needed for the day, which could range anywhere from 100 to 750 doses. These technicians were reliable and always willing to help with the vaccination clinics, and much of our success and efficiency can be attributed to them. We are very grateful for their hard work and dedication!

These dedicated technicians worked throughout the entire time that Memorial was administering vaccines (December through May).

Also playing an integral role was Pharmacy Buyer Shannon Brown. He worked behind the scenes ensuring the vaccines were ordered, reporting quantities to the New Mexico Department of Health, and organizing supplies for clinics when doses were drawn up by the nurses.
