Memorial Heroes: Lisa Gallosa, CT technologist

February 12, 2021

What is your official title?

CT technologist.

How long have you worked here at Memorial Medical Center?

13 years total at MMC, but two years in CT.

How did you come into this position?

I learned a lot over the years in X-ray. I was ready to learn something new. A position came up in CT and here I am! And... I just recently passed my CT Registry!

What was your motivation for a career in healthcare?

I got bored sitting at a desk job. I wanted a career that I could branch out in and that was more. Radiology offers that. Not to mention I like the interaction with my patients.

What is a typical day like for you?

There is no real typical day as a CT technologist. It is sometimes challenging, rewarding and offers a variety each day. It is more complex and involved than some people realize.

How would you describe your role’s responsibilities?

My job is to provide quality exams for the radiologists by working with physicians and patients in getting histories and symptoms when possible to help in a proper diagnosis for the patient.

In what areas do you help patients?

By treating them with care and compassion, explaining procedures to help put them more at ease so that I can get the best possible exam for them. I try to treat every patient as I would want one of my family members treated.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I enjoy being outside and RVing!

What is your favorite part about working for Memorial Medical Center?

I have an awesome team that I work with and an amazing team leader. They have all contributed to my success here. Even though my day to day consists of specific exams and procedures, there isn’t a day that I don’t learn something new.
