At Memorial Medical Center (MMC) we believe that everyone deserves access to high quality healthcare — regardless of their ability to pay. We are committed to helping all patients understand their options and get the support they need.

Our team provides guidance on financial assistance programs, cost-of-care resource and coverage alternatives, all in accordance with state and federal requirements, including the Patient Debt Collection Practices Act, the Healthcare Funding Act, and the Indigent Hospital and County Health Care Act. MMC is also dedicated to fulfilling its legal responsibility to care for patients who meet the state’s definition of indigency under the Indigent Hospital and County Health Care Act.

How We Support Uninsured Patients

Our Healthcare Coverage Assistance Program connects uninsured patients with the resources they need. A dedicated team of patient access representatives, healthcare coverage advisors, and Medicaid eligibility advocates will walk you through every step. We also comply with the requirements of the New Mexico Patient Debt Collection Protection Act including its requirements for indigent care reporting. To see our latest annual report, click here.

These services include:

1. Eligibility Screening

We help determine whether you qualify for financial assistance or indigent care programs.

Our team will:

  • Review your current coverage status and financial situation
  • Use a standardized screening tool to assess potential eligibility
  • Verify details using required documents such as proof of income, household size, and any existing coverage
  • Refer you to financial counselors and resources for additional support when needed

2. Application Assistance

If you qualify for a program, we provide guidance in completing and submitting applications.

This includes:

  • Clear guidance on how to complete required forms
  • Assistance gathering documentation
  • Information about in-network insurance options and payment options
  • Reviewing applications for accuracy before submission
  • Helping ensure timely submission to the appropriate agencies

We provide access to information that helps you make informed decisions about your care.

  • Information about our 60% discount for uninsured patients
  • Details about county, state and federal financial assistance programs
  • Explanations of benefits, requirements, and how each program works
  • Referrals to community organizations, nonprofits, or local agencies that can offer additional support

We will:
