It is a source of great pride that LifePoint Health received the prestigious John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award this year for its National Quality Program. That puts LifePoint in the company of Harvard Medical School, Mayo Clinic, and American College of Surgeons, among others. LifePoint Health and Memorial’s healthcare team is committed to achieving the highest quality of care for our patients by partnering with our doctors and other professionals, as well as the Duke Health System. Each month, and annually, the Memorial management team is called upon to present our progress in pursuing the reduction of harms through quality initiatives. In healthcare, harms are defined as anything that impairs or adversely affects the safety of patients in clinical care (Medical Dictionary, © 2009 Farlex and Partners). “Do no harm” is a phrase commonly attributed to the Hippocratic Oath that physicians take as they enter into their career. Our management team just came back from the annual quality presentation at LifePoint. We were recognized for exceptional achievements in patient safety and quality over the past four years. Memorial is dedicated to the provision of quality care as evidenced by our most recent outstanding survey by The Joint Commission, including an almost perfect Lab survey, our re-accreditation this year of the Medical and Radiation Oncology Programs at Memorial Cancer Center, and our recent A and high B ratings on Leapfrog – an independent survey of hospital quality. Read More »
