Ikard Radiation Oncology
In addition to traditional radiation therapies, we also offer TomoTherapy - a new, more precise way of treating cancer. Unlike traditional radiation treatments where a larger area of your body may be exposed to the radiation, TomoTherapy delivers highly targeted radiation to the exact location of your cancer. Medical Oncology and Hematology
We provide treatment for solid tumors and blood cancers. MMC Cancer Center provides additional services not available at other treatment centers in the area. Some examples are: each patient is seen by a provider before every chemotherapy session and an Oncology Pharmacist oversees the patient's chemotherapy treatment and medication management and provides counseling for patients.
Through a partnership with UNM Cancer Center, an NCI-designated cancer center, we are able to offer treatment through national clinical trials. Patients are able to receive these cutting edge treatments without having to travel far from home. For appointments or consultations, call 575.521.1554
Radiation Oncology vs. Medical Oncology
What is the difference between radiation oncology and medical oncology? Radiation oncology uses radiation (x-rays) to treat cancer. Medical oncology treats cancer primarily with medicine such as chemotherapy. We offer both types of treatment right here in southern New Mexico. Every patient is an individual, and so is their treatment plan. Consult your physician to discuss what treatment options are best for you.
